All HUM drivers must maintain valid personal auto insurance as a condition of eligibility. HUM’s Ride Assurance coverage does not replace your personal policy. The requirements below come directly from HUM’s Terms of Use.
1. You Must Maintain Active Personal Auto Insurance
Drivers must maintain current, valid proof of insurance (POI) at all times while driving on HUM.
Expired or lapsed insurance results in immediate deactivation.
2. Minimum Coverage Limits
Your personal auto policy must meet or exceed:
$300,000 / $500,000 / $100,000
(bodily injury per person / bodily injury per accident / property damage)
or the minimum limits required by your state, whichever is higher.
3. Your Policy Must Allow Business / Rideshare Use
Your personal auto policy:
Must not contain a business-use exclusion
Must not contain a rideshare/TNC exclusion
Must clearly allow you to operate the vehicle legally in a commercial context
Policies with exclusions for transporting passengers for hire are not accepted.
4. Responsibility for Vehicle Damage
Drivers are fully responsible for:
Damage to their own vehicle
Loss or theft of personal property
Repairs, maintenance, and upkeep
Any accident that occurs outside the HUM coverage conditions
HUM does not pay for damage to a driver's personal vehicle.
5. Proof of Insurance Must Be Uploaded and Kept Current
Drivers must upload:
A current insurance card or declarations page
Updated documentation whenever the policy renews or changes
Failure to maintain an up-to-date document may result in temporary deactivation.
