Vehicle Requirements
All drivers operating on HUM must comply with the following vehicle requirements, insurance requirements, inspection standards, and safety rules. These requirements exist to ensure safety, legal compliance, and reliability across all HUM trips, including Private Rides.

1. Proof of Vehicle Ownership
Proof of vehicle ownership is required.
A copy of the state registration card is sufficient.
Registration must be current and valid at all times.
2. Insurance Requirements
Drivers must maintain active personal auto insurance and comply with the following:
The driver is responsible for all accidents involving their personally owned or leased vehicle.
HUM assumes no responsibility for any loss or damage to the driver’s vehicle or personal property.
Drivers must provide and maintain current proof of insurance (POI).
Minimum required limits:
$300,000 / $500,000 / $100,000
(bodily injury per person / bodily injury per accident / property damage)
OR limits established by the state in which the vehicle is operated, whichever is higher.The insurance policy must not include exclusions for business use of the vehicle, rideshare, livery, or TNC activity.
3. Vehicle Age, Mileage, and Condition Requirements
Vehicles should be in good condition.
Vehicles should be less than 8 years old.
Vehicles should have less than 150,000 miles.
Vehicles must be free of major cosmetic damage, mechanically sound, and suitable for transporting passengers.
Vehicles must be maintained according to manufacturer guidelines.
Maintenance and repair records must be retained by the driver and submitted to HUM upon request.
4. Vehicle Inspections and Maintenance
Daily Inspection (Required)
Drivers must conduct a daily inspection before operating the vehicle, with special emphasis on:
Lights
Turn signals
Tires
Monthly Inspection (Required)
Drivers must complete monthly documented inspections using HUM’s inspection form.
HUM may request monthly inspection documentation at any time.
Defects
Defects must be reported immediately.
Drivers must not operate vehicles deemed unsafe until repairs are completed.
Maintenance
Vehicles must be maintained in accordance with manufacturer requirements.
Records of all driver-initiated maintenance and repairs must be reported/submitted.
Recalls
Drivers are responsible for addressing and remedying any vehicle recall issued by government agencies or manufacturers.
Recalled vehicles must not be operated on HUM until recall-related repairs are complete.
5. Additional Driver Rules and Responsibilities
The following rules apply to all drivers while operating a HUM vehicle:

Seatbelt and shoulder harness use is required for all drivers and passengers.Traffic Laws:
Drivers must adhere to all local, state, and federal traffic laws.Smoking:
Smoking is prohibited in vehicles at all times.Driver Safety Meetings:
Drivers are required to attend all driver safety meetings and review all safe driving materials provided by HUM.
6. Summary of Operational Requirements
Drivers must ensure at all times:
Their vehicle is safe, operational, and legally compliant.
Insurance and registration are current.
Daily and monthly inspections are completed.
Defects and recalls are addressed promptly.
All passengers use seatbelts.
No smoking occurs in the vehicle.
All traffic laws are followed.
Failure to comply may result in deactivation.
