1. When HUM’s Insurance Is Active
HUM’s commercial insurance (Ride Assurance) is active only when all of the following conditions are met:
The trip is started and ended inside the HUM Driver app.
The driver meets all HUM Driver Eligibility Requirements, including valid license, valid registration, and valid personal insurance without business-use exclusions.
The driver is operating a HUM-approved vehicle that meets all Vehicle Requirements.
The driver is not impaired, distracted, or violating HUM’s safety rules.
The driver is in full compliance with local, state, and federal TNC laws.
If any of the above conditions are not met, HUM’s insurance may not be active.
2. What HUM’s Insurance Covers
(applies only during active HUM trips)
HUM’s commercial coverage includes:
A. Liability Coverage
Coverage for bodily injury or property damage to other parties if the HUM driver is at fault.
This includes:
Injury to pedestrians, cyclists, or other motorists
Damage to other vehicles or property
B. Passenger Injury Coverage
Covers injuries sustained by passengers during a HUM trip.
C. Uninsured / Underinsured Motorist (UM/UIM) Protection
Covers driver and passengers if the at-fault party:
Has no insurance
Has insufficient insurance
D. Commercial Coverage for Private Rides
Private Rides (Manual Rides) are covered only if:
The ride is properly started and ended in the HUM Driver app
Driver meets all eligibility and compliance requirements
HUM does not provide coverage for Private Rides conducted outside the app.
3. What HUM’s Insurance Does Not Cover
HUM’s Ride Assurance does not cover:

Personal-use driving (offline from HUM)
Drivers with expired registration, expired insurance, or disqualifying MVR

Any driving outside the scope of HUM’s operating areas
Any driving that violates state TNC laws
Drivers are responsible for meeting all requirements necessary for HUM’s insurance to remain valid.

(driver responsibility – separate from HUM coverage)
Drivers must maintain valid personal auto insurance at all times.
Personal insurance covers:
Personal-use driving
Non-commercial driving
Periods when the driver is not on a HUM trip
Damage to the driver’s vehicle if the policy includes comprehensive/collision
Personal property losses unrelated to HUM operations
Personal insurance does NOT cover HUM trips if the policy excludes commercial or TNC activity.
Many personal policies contain exclusions such as:
Livery exclusion
Rideshare/TNC exclusion
Business-use exclusion
Drivers must ensure their policy does not exclude rideshare or commercial use.
HUM requires personal insurance with minimum limits of:
$300,000 / $500,000 / $100,000
(bodily injury per person / bodily injury per accident / property damage)
or higher if state law requires.
5. Driver Responsibilities for Insurance Compliance
Drivers must:
Maintain valid personal insurance with no business-use exclusions.
Maintain valid, unexpired vehicle registration.
Start and end every HUM trip inside the HUM Driver app.
Operate only HUM-approved vehicles that meet all vehicle requirements.
Follow all HUM safety rules, including distracted driving and defensive driving policies.
Follow all local, state, and federal traffic laws.
Never conduct “off-app” or unlogged trips expecting HUM coverage.

6. When Coverage May Be Denied
Coverage may be denied if:
The driver violated HUM’s safety rules.
The driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The driver had expired insurance or registration.
