Dispatch-Assisted Private Rides

Dispatch-Assisted Private Rides allow HUM to book a Private Ride on behalf of a passenger who prefers to call instead of using the HUM Rider app or may have difficulty navigating an app-based request. These rides function like standard Private Rides in terms of payment and insurance, but they arrive to drivers as a ping, similar to an on-demand ride.

This service supports elderly riders, non-tech-savvy riders, hotel and business guests, and riders who simply prefer speaking with a HUM dispatcher.

How Dispatch-Assisted Private Rides Work

1. HUM Dispatch quotes the fare to the passenger

Dispatch collects the rider’s pickup, destination, and timing, then provides the fare estimate.

2. Dispatch books the trip in the HUM system

The operator enters the trip details and sends the request to drivers in the area.

3. Drivers receive a ping in the app

This looks similar to an on-demand request, but the trip is categorized internally as a Private Ride.

4. Driver accepts and performs the trip

Once accepted:

Navigate to pickup
Start the ride in the HUM Driver app
End the ride upon arrival

This ensures Ride Assurance coverage is active.

5. Passenger pays the driver directly

As with all Private Rides, payment does not go through Stripe.
Payment methods may include:

Cash
Square, Clover, or another card reader
Zelle, Venmo, PayPal, CashApp

Driver Requirements for Dispatch-Assisted Private Rides

1. App must be ON

Drivers only receive dispatch pings when online.

2. HUM Wallet balance must be at least $10 for airport trips

Airport tolls deduct automatically from your Wallet.
