Using Stripe for Payouts

HUM uses Stripe to process payments for all trips that occur in or through the HUM app, which include:

Rides That Require Stripe

  • On-Demand Rides

  • Pre-Scheduled Rides

  • Live Requests

Rides That Do Not Require Stripe

  • Private Rides (Manual Rides) — driver collects payment directly

  • Dispatch-Assisted Private Rides — driver collects payment directly

If you plan to accept On-Demand, Pre-Scheduled, or Live Request rides, you must complete your Stripe setup through the HUM Driver App.

Why HUM Uses Stripe

  • HUM does not hold or touch your fares.

  • Stripe handles the authorization, payment, and payout from the passenger to the driver.

  • Stripe also manages your monthly subscription payments (if applicable).

  • Every driver must establish a unique Stripe connection through the HUM Driver app, even if they already use Stripe elsewhere.

Without an active Stripe connection, HUM cannot process payouts for trips that require Stripe. 

How to Set Up Stripe in the HUM Driver App

Follow these steps:

  1. Open the HUM Driver app

  2. Tap the Menu (top-left hamburger icon)

  3. Tap your Profile Picture

  4. Tap the Edit icon in the top-right (pencil icon)

  5. Select Account Details

  6. Tap Connect with Stripe

  7. Complete onboarding on Stripe's secure portal

What Stripe Will Ask For

During onboarding, Stripe will request:

  • Legal name and contact information

  • Bank account or debit card for payouts

  • EIN or SSN (Stripe requires identity verification)

  • A website or social media link

Once completed, Stripe will return you to the HUM Driver app.

How to Confirm Your Stripe Connection

Your HUM profile will show:

  • “View Stripe” if setup is complete

  • “Connect with Stripe” if setup is still required

You can access payout history at any time via:

https://connect.stripe.com/express_login

Important Notes for Drivers

  • Stripe setup is required for On-Demand, Pre-Scheduled, and Live Requests trips

  • HUM cannot pay drivers manually outside of Stripe.

  • If you change your bank account, update it directly in your Stripe dashboard.

  • If your Stripe account becomes restricted or inactive, payouts will pause until you resolve the issue with Stripe.
